1) Students will develop an understanding of how CARICOM help member countries achieve economic development
2) Students will have an appreciation of the CARICOM
Objectives
Knowledge: students should be able to state the 3 main objectives of CARICOM
Skills: students should be able to name and locate the 15 members states of CARICOMAttitude: students will be aware of how CARICOM members help each other
Attitude: students will become aware of how Caricom members help each other.

Previous knowledge: Students were introduced to the concept of Regional integration and are aware that there are several examples of integration in the Caribbean such a Federation, CARIFTA and CARICOM
Introduction: Students will be given a scenario:

Students will be given a scenario: Camperdown, Vauxhall and Dunoon are high schools that are in close proximity to each other. None of the schools have a home ground for football matches and either are able to build one on their own.Camperdown has a well equip gym and excellent trainers but Vauxhall and Dunoon have none and so their students do not do well in any sporting activities.Dunoon has an excellent technical department, while Camperdown and Vauxhall students often fail the technical subjects because their students do not have equipments need for practical classes etc.Vauxhall on the other hand has an excellent music department; this enables their students to do extremely well in their musical competitions.The Principal at these three institutions decided to come together to help each other to develop their institutions in the areas of …1) Sports2) Academic performance3) Funding4) SecurityQuestions: How could each institution they help each other? What benefits would each school obtain? What problems may arise? How is this scenario similar to CARICOM.
Development
Step 1
Students will be asked to go to the webpage and textbook to find out the three main objectives of CARICOM and write them in their notebook. They should also create three similar objectives for the Principals to use in their new "organization".
Step 2
Use the webpage and textbook to identify the 15 members of Caricom, the 5 Associate Members of CARICOM and the 7 Members with Observer status and complete the table below given.
Step 3
Students will use the information on the webpage to complete the blank map of the Caribbean putting in yellow - Associate members, Red -Observer members - and Blue Caricom members
